Privacy Policy
| Third parties | We rely on a small number of third-party services to run this site. Our hosting provider receives server-level request logs as a technical necessity. If analytics is enabled, an anonymised copy of page views is sent to the analytics provider. When you click an affiliate link, your visit is passed to the destination site and its tracking partners through a redirect — at that point you are leaving our site and their privacy terms apply. We do not sell visitor data, trade email lists or share identifying information with marketing partners. If a third party asks for our data under compulsory process — a court order, a lawful request from an Australian regulator — we will comply with the minimum required. |
| How we use | Any data we collect is used for three things: to keep the site online, to understand which content is useful to readers, and to respond when you write to us. Server logs help us spot outages and abuse. Analytics data, when enabled, shapes editorial decisions about what to cover next. Messages submitted through the contact form are read by a human and used to reply. We do not profile visitors, build advertising audiences or use your data to serve personalised promotions. The site has no logged-in user area, no shopping cart and no permanent cookies set by our own domain beyond what is needed for basic session handling. |
| What we collect | When you visit a page, the hosting provider automatically records the request — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, your browser user agent and referrer. These logs are retained for a short period and are used only for site operations and security. If you submit the contact form, we receive the name and email address you provide along with the message body. If analytics is active, aggregated and anonymised visit data (approximate region, device type, pages viewed in sequence) is also collected. We do not request or store payment information, government IDs or health data. |
| Your rights | Under Australian privacy law you can ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or ask that it be deleted. Because we hold very little — in most cases nothing more than a contact form submission — these requests are usually quick to fulfil. To exercise a right, write to us through the contact page and include enough information for us to find the record you are asking about. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. |
